The floating markets in Bangkok are among the city’s star attractions. Almost every traveller has a visit to at least one on their first trip here. The colours, chaos, flavours and atmosphere make it a unique experience, and the novelty of buying a snack from a passing boat takes some beating. Even so, many will be discouraged by the distance, the price of the tour and definitely the ludicrously early wake-up time needed to get there early enough to enjoy the experience properly.

A coral island is a type of island formed from coral detritus and associated organic material.[1] It occurs in tropical and sub-tropical areas, typically as part of a coral reef which has grown to cover a far larger area under the sea. The term low island can be used to distinguish such islands from high islands, which are formed through volcanic action.[2][3] Low islands are formed as a result of sedimentation upon a coral reef or of the uplifting of such islands.

The Phi Phi Islands are an island group in Thailand between the large island of Phuket and the Straits of Malacca coast of Thailand. The islands are administratively part of Krabi Province. Ko Phi Phi Don is the largest and most populated island of the group, although the beaches of the second largest island, Ko Phi Phi Le are visited by many people as well. The rest of the islands in the group, including Bida Nok, Bida Nai, and Bamboo Island (Ko Mai Phai), are not much more than large limestone rocks jutting out of the sea.
